PolArt 2018 starts in
With a rich 40 year history, PolArt is the largest Polish cultural festival outside Poland and is held every three years in capital cities around Australia. The PolArt Festival was originally conceived to celebrate the cultural achievements of first and second generation Polish migrants, showcasing them to Australian audiences. PolArt 2018 Brisbane will pay homage to the beauty of our Polish heritage through a vast array of visual and performing arts.
PolArt is indeed the largest and longest running national multicultural arts festival hosted in Australia by a discrete ethnic group and is the largest Polish cultural festival outside Poland. It is the foremost national celebration of “being” Polish within the Australian context and is the only event which brings together the Polish communities of Australia and New Zealand.
Over the years, the PolArt Festival has drawn crowds in the hundreds of thousands and has established a reputation for being a family friendly, community festival focusing on artistic activities that allow audiences to immerse themselves in all forms of Polish art and culture.
The festival promotes and contributes to the multicultural Australian character by leaving a lasting connection with Polish culture for future Australian generations to experience and enjoy.
2018 marks the 100th anniversary of Poland’s Independence. In recognition of this significant historic date, we aim to present the broadest experience of Polish arts and culture ever staged in Australia by creating a memorable celebration of “all things Polish”. This remarkable national community celebration of Polish Visual and Performing Arts will descend on Brisbane in the form of a festival of Polish dance, film, theatre, music, literature, exhibitions and community events.
